After a harsh winter in 2017 that destroyed 600 boxwoods, we began our partnership with this high-traffic South Loop retail and residential center by devising a creative, budget-conscious landscaping plan to address the immediate issues. Our team transformed the grounds, replacing traditional boxwood hedges with a mix of resilient shrubs, perennials, annuals, and sod. We also upgraded the look by replacing colorful stand-alone planters with sleek, modern black fiberglass containers, adding a cohesive and contemporary feel.
Ongoing maintenance includes five seasonal rotations in beds (spring, summer, fall, bulbs, and winter) and four in planters, daily oversight, budget management, consistent communication with site management, and irrigation system upkeep. Additionally, we handle landscaping needs for the attached residential loft buildings, ensuring the site remains vibrant and well-managed year-round. In 2025, this thoughtful and comprehensive approach earned the project the Platinum Award from Landscape Illinois for Best in Commercial Landscape Maintenance, a recognition of both the impact and consistency of care.
